8 Minute Meditation Update- Week 3
I’ve finished my third week of meditation using the book “8 Minute Meditation“. I meditated every night this past week using the “noting body sensations” technique. I am becoming kind of addicted to this meditation thing, even though this last week presented some challenges.
Meditation using the “noting body sensations” method is based on focusing on the sensations that you receive from your body. The focal point keeps changing as you note different feelings and sensations. I found it a little tough to do at first but got used to it as the week went on. The real challenge this week was more location oriented.
We were traveling to a family function Thursday through Sunday. That meant I couldn’t use my usual, comfy meditation spot in our house. So, I had to improvise. I meditated in the hotel room as well as on a plane while it was taxiing to the terminal after landing. I even used a super quick meditation to focus before having to give a eulogy at a memorial service. What I discovered was that I was able to effectively meditate in new situations. I think this will help me to use meditation to my advantage no matter where I am.
So far I am three weeks into the eight week program and I am learning a lot about myself through meditation. I am looking froward to next week when I will be meditating using the “magic moment” technique. I wonder if this will teach me to pull a rabbit out of my hat
Stay tuned!
