Here is my weekly activity update for the week ending Sunday March 9, 2008.

This was an OK week. I got in enough, but not as much as I would have liked, bike riding along with two days of weight lifting. The healthy eating end of things went as planned.

Bike Riding

I rode a total of five days this week, four on the indoor trainer and one outside. My inside trainer rides were fairly intense. I did the “Time Trial Special” Spinervals on Tuesday which is a tough workout emphasizing building aerobic capacity and leg speed. On Wednesday and Thursday I did some more aerobic capacity building sessions which are fairly intense but are done at a steady pace which is easier to deal with than the hard/easy on the other workouts. Saturday was cold and very windy so I just did an aerobic session indoors. My outside ride on Sunday was fairly easy as my legs were a little tired. Total time on the bike was just over 4 and 1/2 hours.

Weight Training

I lifted two days this week, Monday and Thursday. I thought my right shoulder was OK so I lifted the upper body some. Well, on Friday my shoulder was sore again. I think it is just a slight strain but I will have to be careful with this. I was really mad at myself for tweaking the shoulder again.

Healthy Eating

When we did eat out this week we got fairly healthy food, Japanese udon soup and sushi on Saturday and some tasty fish tacos on Sunday. During the week we had our usual menu with a nice bonus of some delicious homemade Ciopponi (fish stew) on Saturday.

As for next week, my bike riding will be less due to us needing to go out of town Thursday through Sunday. I should be able to lift some weights at the hotel and get a short run or two in. Hopefully we can eat healthy in the restaurants.

Here’s hoping all of you have a good, active week. Keep moving.
