Weekly Activity Update #2
Here is my weekly activity update for the week ending Sunday March 2, 2008.
This was a pretty good week. I got in a good amount of bike riding along with two days of weight lifting. We also managed to do well in the healthy eating department. Here are some details.
Bike Riding- I rode a total of five days this week, three inside on the trainer and two outside. My inside trainer rides were fairly intense. I did the “Big Gear Strength” Spinervals on Tuesday which is a tough workout emphasizing building leg strength. On Wednesday and Thursday I did aerobic capacity building sessions which are fairly intense but are done at a steady pace which is easier to deal with than the hard/easy on the other workouts. My outside rides were moderate paced and really just a way to get in some decent miles and enjoy the outdoors with friends. Total time on the bike was just over five and 1/2 hours.
Weight Training- I lifted two days this week, Monday and Saturday. My right shoulder was still a little sore so I didn’t want to push it. It got better throughout the week so I’m hoping that I can resume upper body lifting this coming week. I focused on lower body exercises like squats, leg and calf press, leg extension and curls.
Healthy Eating- We continued to do good with buying more fruits/vegetables and eating at home. When we did eat out this week we got fairly healthy food, grilled fish tacos on Saturday and Caesar salad on Sunday. On Sunday, along with the salad, we did have a couple of beers at our favorite Beer Bar. They have a tremendous selection of quality beers and we enjoy going there a couple of times a month.
Looking ahead to the upcoming week, I am debating on whether to do a long bike ride on Saturday. My ankle feels a lot better and my stretching seems to be working so I might do that. Other than that I will keep doing what I’ve been doing.
Here’s hoping all of you have a good, active week. Keep moving.
